Presenting actors who were tipped to be doing a role, until others stole it from right under their noses
Aishwarya out,Kareena in
Kareena Kapoor, 30, recently put all gossip mills to rest by declaring that she will be playing the lead after Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s ouster from Madhur Bhandarkar’s ambitious project Heroine. “I’ve said yes to Madhur and okayed the script. Now the dates and fee etc are being worked out,” Bebo told us. The film was shelved after just 10 days of shoot when Ash announced she was expecting, leaving Bhandarkar in a fix and in a state of depression
Genelia out, Prachi in
They say one woman’s loss is another woman’s gain — the same happened with actor Prachi Desai, who was reportedly roped in for Rohit Shetty’s upcoming comedy Bol Bachchan after Genelia D’Souza discontinued the project for unknown reasons. Sources say her ouster was due to her differences with the makers. The other female lead in the movie is Asin Thottumkal. The film is a tribute to Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s 1979 Amol Palekar starrer classic Gol Maal.
Shatrughan out, Raj Babbar in
Veteran actor-turned-politician Raj Babbar came on board after his counterpart Shatrughan Sinha (far right) turned down the offer to play actor Kareena Kapoor’s father in Salman Khan’s much-talked-about upcoming film, Bodyguard. While reports suggest Sinha has vowed to play father to only his daughter Sonakshi on-screen, rumours are also rife that he backed out at such a late stage because he was unhappy with the length of his part in the film. A remake of 2010’s Malayalam film with the same name, the movie is releasing on August 31.
Arjun out, Rahul in
Model-turned-actor Arjun Rampal apparently lost his part in Sajid Khan’s Housefull 2 due to his high quotation. He was reportedly replaced at the eleventh hour by actor Rahul Khanna, as Rampal demanded around Rs 2.5 crore, which didn’t go down well with producer Sajid Nadiadwala. Actors Akshay Kumar and Riteish Deshmukh, however, reprise their roles in Part 2.
