An actor replacing his/her contemporary in a film is a frequent phenomenon.

But, every time such an incident occurs in Bollywood, it makes news.

The latest one in the league is Ayushmann Khurrana, who has been approached for the lead role in Tigmanshu Dhulia’s next film, Milan Talkies. Apparently, Varun Dhawan was offered the role as well.

An insider close to the film says, "The makers have contacted Ayushmann, who is currently shooting in Gujarat. Though he knows about the film, he’ll go through a detailed script narration once he is back in the city."

Milan Talkies has been in the news for a couple of years now. Over the past few months, multiple actors’ names have been associated with the film, including Imran Khan, Prateik and Shahid Kapoor.

Among female actors, Priyanka Chopra, Sonakshi Sinha and Shraddha Kapoor have been associated with the film at various junctures in the past.

We have also been told that Ayushmann is taking his time to accept the offer. "He loves Dhulia’s work, but he is not in a hurry to take up the film."

Despite repeated attempts, the actor couldn’t be reached for comment.

However, Tanuj Garg, the CEO of Balaji Motion Pictures (the producers), says, "Nobody has been signed yet, but we expect to make an official announcement about the cast soon."
