Twelve years ago, Amitabh Bachchan reinvented himself as the quiz show host of Kaun Banega Crorepati. His second innings, following a spate of rather regrettable films — Hindustan Ki Kasam (1999), Lal Baadshah (1999), Bade Miya Chhote Miya (1998), Kohram (1999) — gave us an older man with a French beard, whose image is now synonymous with Bollywood superstardom.

Ever since, the actor has maintained the look in every film, endorsement and public appearance. But that might have to change now.

It’s been reported that Bachchan has been roped in by filmmaker Prakash Jha for his forthcoming film, Satyagraha, where he is supposedly playing social activist Anna Hazare.
