Deepti makes my birthdays special: Shreyas

Actor Shreyas Talpade, who will be turning a year older on Saturday, shares childhood memories of his birthday, adds wife Deepti makes the special day extra special now

On January 27, actor Shreyas Talpade turns a year older. The Golmaal Again (2017) actor is looking forward to a day off and a quiet celebration with his school friends and family. “I may travel somewhere out of town, not too far, for the weekend. My school friends, one from the US and one from Australia are in town, so they will be joining me too. I will be ringing in my birthday with them and family,” says the actor.

Shreyas fondly remembers his childhood birthday celebrations and shares that those were such fun days and he missed them. “I would wear my favourite clothes, distribute sweets, get special attention at home. I am the youngest among the cousins, so I would always be bullied into running errands and doing their chores. However, on my birthday the elders would intervene and not let me work. They would say, ‘It’s his birthday, let him enjoy’,” says Shreyas with a smile as he recalls those days.

The Poster Boys (2017) director adds that his mom and aunt would bake a special cake for him, with icing and his name on it. “January has a lot of birthdays in my family, so the entire month would be full of celebrations and food.”

After growing up, his birthdays have been made special by wife Deepti. His lady love makes it a point to not only give him a gift but also arrange a special treat on this day. “She usually gives me something I want. So, this year, I guess it will be a phone because I have butter fingers and my phone is in a bad shape. Apart from this materialistic gift, she makes it a point to invite my family and have a small celebration. She is more of a giver and I am the taker in this relationship.”
