German import, Evelyn Sharma, is the latest foreign actor to make a foray in the film industry.She has been signed for upcoming film, Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani, opposite actor Ranbir Kapoor. Evelyn will also be seen in filmmaker Manish Tiwary’s next, Issaq. “I took acting lessons for four months under director Rahul Rawail, in his academy. I learnt Hindi as I did not want someone dubbing for me,” she said.
It was one of the biggest and most talked about debuts in Bollywood, as Mexican beauty Barbara Mori entered the industry in 2010 with the film, Kites, opposite actor Hrithik Roshan. Rumours of a romance with Hrithik created a lot of buzz about the film and Mori, but the Roshan clan denied reports. The film eventually bombed at the box office and the 34-year-old wasn’t seen in any other Bollywood project.
South African model, Candice Boucher, who has featured on the covers of various magazines including Cosmopolitan, FHM and Playboy, worked in the 2011 Bollywood film Aazaan, opposite actor Sachin Joshi. The
28-year-old also grabbed many eyeballs and media attention when she wore a dare to bare, see-through dress at the Cannes film festival, last year. While many hoped to see Candice feature in more films, she currently does not have any more Bollywood projects lined up.
Nargis Fakhri, 32, was Bollywood’s best kept secret till promos of filmmaker Imtiaz Ali’s Rockstar went on air. While rumoured boyfriend and the film’s lead actor, Ranbir Kapoor, stole the show with his performance, Nargis’s acting abilities failed to impress critics. However, the half-Czech, half-Pakistani actor has bagged a three-film deal with actor Akshay Kumar’s production house, Grazing goat Pictures. Khiladi 786 will be the first project of the three.
The winner of Miss Sri Lanka 2006 entered Bollywood with a dud, Aladin (2009) and followed it up with another flop, Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai. The actor finally tasted success last year with the film Murder 2, and this year with multi-starrer, Housefull 2. While rumours are rife about boyfriend and filmmaker Sajid Khan charting her moves in the industry, Jacqueline has Race 2 and an international film, Definition Of Fear in her kitty.
Brazilian model, Giselli, entered Bollywood with the film Love Aaj Kal (2009), opposite actor Saif Ali Khan, and her portrayal of a shy Punjabi girl won her accolades for the role. After a hiatus of two years, the 23-year-old was seen in the film Always Kabhi Kabhi, and has now featured in an item number for the flick, Pranam Walekum.
