Asin was the first choice for Force. When she opted out due to date issues, Deepika Padukone, Diana Penty and even Katrina Kaif were in contention for the Hindi remake of the Suriya-Jyothika Tamil superhit, Kaakha..Kaakha (2003). But to everyone’s surprise, Genelia D’Souza waltzed off with the coveted role in Vipul Shah’s action thriller co-starring John Abraham.

The actor insists that her character has been remodeled, from a school teacher to a social activist for the remake. "She hasn’t changed drastically but she is younger and spunkier. You can’t mess with her!" says Genila, who is doing her bit to change society for the better.

"My mother, also my manager, ensures that a percentage of my earnings goes to a worthwhile cause, whether its sponsoring the education of a girl child, or helping out my school, college, church, old-age home on improvement projects. Nishi (director Nishikanth Kamat) promised me that I’d fall in love with the character in the movie, and I did, instantly."

Force has been in the news for John’s rippling muscles but Genelia insists there’s more to the film than her co-star’s body. "It’s an action thriller with a heart. It’s a cop’s story, but also a love story. You can’t miss his girl, she’s always there," she says.

Genelia, however, is all praise for her ‘hero’ who has been shooting hardcore action sequences in difficult locations, like a cement factory. “My part is sweeter and being the only significant female character, I get pampered on the sets too,” she laughs.

John and Genelia were earlier paired in the comic caper, Hook Ya Crook, that has abruptly ground to a halt. Mention the film and she sighs, “It’s a riot, all those who have seen the rushes have had a laugh. But the market has changed since the film was launched. Still, I hope it gets to see the light of the day since, I’m the only girl among the boys in this movie, as well. It’s becoing a habit now.”
