I can’t run after people to cast me in their films: Radhika Apte

Actor Radhika Apte says if she comes across a project which she is interested in, she lets the filmmaker know, but has never begged anyone to cast her.

Actor Radhika Apte believes in expressing her interest in a film, but not approaching filmmakers for work. She says, “I don’t ask people to cast me in their films. If there is a fair audition, I go for that. People approaching you is a better way of going about it, since they know what they are looking for. I can’t go after someone constantly and say ‘cast me, cast me!’. “

“It’s not something I do,” says Apte, who featured in Tamil star Rajinikanth’s latest film, Kabali. “If one is making a film I’d like to do, I tell them I’m interested, but I can’t run after them,” she adds.

Critical of herself, the 30-year-old says she is not the best judge of her acting abilities. “Recently, I’ve started watching myself on screen. There are times I can see where I’m going wrong so it helps, but the rest of the time I detach myself,” she says.

Apte — known for films such as Ahalya (2015) and Phobia (2016) — will take a short break before taking on her next project. “I’m shooting for a film. After that I’d be on a holiday. I will use the time off to decide what to do next. Quite a lot of work is coming (my way) which I’m won’t be taking on immediately,” she says.
