Akshay Kumar may be riding high on the success of Rowdy Rathore and Housefull 2, but he says no one in Hollywood is interested in him. "Mujhe koi bulata hi nahi ... bulayenge toh kar lenge. Zyada se zyada angrezi hi bolni padegi naa ... bol lenge (No one from Hollywood calls me ... if they do, I’ll do it. At most I’ll have to speak English...I’ll manage that)," he says when asked if he’d like to go West ala Anil Kapoor, Irrfan Khan and now Amitabh Bachchan.
The 44-year-old, who was also a hit on TV when he hosted shows such as Khatron ke Khiladi and Masterchef India, says he is taking a break from the small screen.
"I want to focus on Bollywood projects this year. Maine TV se ek saal ka sanyaas le rakha hai. My upcoming projects are taking all my time. Uske baad dekhte hai." Akki’s upcoming list includes plum projects such as Joker, Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai 2, OMG! Oh My God, Special Chabbis and Khiladi 786. Even as he hopes these films would do well, the string of flops he had in the recent past have taught him a lot.
"One thing I have learnt over the years is that one should concentrate on his or work and never lose focus. When my film flops, I don’t wallow any self-pity, and continue working. That doesn’t change even when my films do well."
The actor, who is "very excited" about another baby in the family soon, says Delhi will always be close to his heart as he can never forget the childhood days he spent in the lanes of Chandni Chowk. "I come once in every 2-3 months as I still have a house in Old Delhi. I gorge on the paranthas from Paranthe Wali Gali and go to the Sis Ganj Gurudwara."The 44-year-old, who was also a hit on TV when he hosted shows such as Khatron ke Khiladi and Masterchef India, says he is taking a break from the small screen.
