Is Deepika Padukone attending Met Gala 2019? Prabal Gurung shares star-studded hint. See here
Deepika Padukone stunned one and all with her glamorous appearance at the 2018 Met Gala, and the actor is expected to return to the prestigious annual event - dubbed the fashion industry’s biggest night - for the 2019 edition. A new picture posted by Nepalese designer Prabal Gurung hints at Deepika making a return.
The designer, who is based out of New York, took to his Instagram on Friday to share a star-studded picture from last year’s event, which happens to feature Deepika in her red gown. He captioned the picture, “It’s that time of the month again.” The 2019 Met Gala will be held on May 6, and this year’s theme is Camp: Notes On Fashion.
Besides Deepika, Prabal’s picture features the likes of Bella Hadid, Kendall Jenner, Diane Kruger, Hailee Steinfeld, Eiza Gonzalez, Ming Xi, Gabrielle Union-Wade, Troye Sivan. Deepika’s fans were quick to react to the post. One of them wrote in the comments section, “Thank you so much for inviting Deepika last year, seems like she had so much fun!!! So did we, thanks to your constant updates back then, especially when you sang Deewani Mastani!!” Another fan wrote, “Cant believe Deepika and Kendall are in same frame.”
Yet another fan requested Prabal to pay special attention to Deepika. They wrote, “This picture is masterpiece, all my favorite in one frame including one of my favourite designers. Hope this year Deepika attending, if she does please make her look different and unique.”
“Deepika has been a longtime friend and muse,” the designer had told Vogue last year. “She embodies all of the ideals I respect in a woman—she is beautiful on the inside and out; intelligent, assured, poised, yet with a sense of levity and joy. I am honoured she is joining me on such a special evening.”
Deepika wore a stunning red gown designed by Prabal at the 2018 Met Gala. Fellow Bollywood actor Priyanka Chopra also attended the event, but she wore her favourite Ralph Lauren. In fact, Priyanka and Nick Jonas made their first official appearance together at the 2017 Met Gala, where they both wore Ralph Lauren. Their love for the fashion label continued at their Christian wedding ceremony in Jodhpur in 2018.
