Meals on films sets are no longer an ordinary affair. Actors and filmmakers are going the extra mile to ensure that they either call for delicious food, or get together to cook on the sets. Some stars even arrange a lavish spread once a week as a token of appreciation for the hard work everyone puts in.
Filmmaker Nikhil Advani and actor Imran Khan were the biggest food buffs on the set of their upcoming film and there was a constant cooking competition between them, according to a source from the sets of the film. “They would always decide the menu for the entire crew. Imran even prepared Chilli Con Carne, a Mexican stew, and served it to everyone,” says the source.
Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali has been known for calling for tasty delights on the sets of his films, and his upcoming flick, Bajirao Mastani, is no exception. “Apart from arranging a huge spread for the crew, Bhansali has also been getting food from his own house for his assistants. Their ‘mahabhoj’ is something the entire film unit looks forward to,” says a source close to the director.
Actor Arjun Kapoor, who is in Delhi for the shoot of his upcoming film, also cooked on the film sets. “The actor was assigned the duty of whipping up breakfast while filming these scenes. Arjun even took a crash course in cooking and made a make-shift kitchen on the sets, replete with a fully stuffed fridge and other appliances. He made omelettes, which the assistant directors gorged on,” a source was quoted as saying.
Meanwhile, actor Priyanka Chopra, who is shooting in Los Angeles for her show, Quantico, has taken along an Indian chef, who cooks on the sets.
