Govinda made several posts on Twitter Friday, expressing his anger at the makers of Jagga Jasoos for deleting his cameo from the film.
The actor ranted at length how he was the reason that the Katrina Kaif, Ranbir Kapoor-starrer film ‘was remembered for three years’ and how he shot for his scenes in South Africa while unwell.
5/5 I did my job as an actor and if the director is not happy it's completely his call.— Govinda (@Govinda_HeroNo1) July 7, 2017
4/5 There were various negative stories and negative articles only for GOVINDA and that's how the film was remembered for 3yrs.— Govinda (@Govinda_HeroNo1) July 7, 2017
3/5 I was unwell and on drips but still I traveled to South Africa and did my shoot.— Govinda (@Govinda_HeroNo1) July 7, 2017
2/5 I was told they will narrate the film in South Africa and I dint even charge my signing amount made no contracts.— Govinda (@Govinda_HeroNo1) July 7, 2017
1/5 I gave full respect to Kapoor family i did the film because he is my seniors son I was told I will get the script.— Govinda (@Govinda_HeroNo1) July 7, 2017
Govinda had a small role in the film which was later cut out due to the changes made to the story. A leaked still of him with Katrina and Ranbir went viral a few days ago which led to fans speculating if he will have a cameo.
Director Anurag Basu later clarified on the matter to PTI. “I’ve shot a couple of days with him in the first schedule. Then there were changes in the story and other things. But Govinda isn’t in the film, his part isn’t there. It was very kind of him to agree when I requested him for the guest appearance. But it’s our loss that he isn’t there,” he said.
In his tweets, Govinda says that the makers floated negative stories about him that helped the movie stay in the public conscience for three years while the production was shut down. However, there were also rumours that the apparent real life break-up of the lead pair also led to delays in the filming of the movie.
Govinda also said that he agreed for the project without any signing amounts or contracts.
His last film was Aa Gaya Hero which was heavily panned by critics and bombed at the box office.
