The director commenced shooting for the web series on Monday in Mumbai. The Forgotten Army is a war epic that will touch many aspects of the Indian National Army. Speaking about it earlier, Kabir had said, “In 1999 I had made a documentary entitled The Forgotten Army about Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose’s Indian National Army. I wanted to convert that into a feature film. But when I got a chance to do something for Amazon India, I decided to change my original plans of doing a feature film on The Forgotten Army into an 8-part mini-series.”
Based on true events, the series is the story of the men and women who fought a heroic war for the independence of India as part of the Indian National Army which was forged out of British defeat in Singapore during WWII and led by the charismatic Bose.
Kabir’s last venture, Tubelight starring Salman Khan, registered less than expected box office collection. His next feature film is about India’s win at the 1983 cricket World Cup, which made unlikely heroes out of Kapil Dev and his team. Ranveer Singh will play the role of the Indian cricket captain.
