On March 31, 2012 the assistant commissioner of I.T. (circle 31) had issued a notice under section 148 of Income Tax Act to re-open Karan Johar's assessment for the year 2006-07. This was after the assistant commissioner felt that Karan had not declared profits amounting to Rs 2 crores. Karan had declared an income of Rs 14.73 crores for that financial year. However the assistant commissioner of I.T. felt that Karan hadn't provided complete details of income and expenditure pertaining to his film Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna.

Karan Johar, meanwhile, has dismissed this allegation levied against him and has moved the HC. The case will be heard on March 6.
