The institution works towards safeguarding the heritage of Indian Cinema for posterity. Bhandarkar says, “I’m happy that NFAI is preserving my films. I feel it’s of a critical importance that we preserve all our films for future generations to refer. Our industry has some very respectful work which is left unclaimed. But if it’s preserved it can be viewed at any time in future and hence our work gets an everlasting life. I am thankful to the ministry for including my films in their collection.”

Vijay Jadhav, the director of NFAI says, “Madhur Bhandarkar’s films are in demand at various film festivals. I would like to thank him for his support and the copies of his films.”
