Meet Ranveer Singh, the rap star

After rapping in his first endorsement for a contraceptive, Ranveer Singh exercised his vocal cords for a ready-to-eat food brand this time around. In a first, the actor has also written the lyrics for rap portion of the song.

Ranveer Singh seems to be focussing as much on his crooning skills as his acting, as he recently sang for yet another commercial.

After rapping in his first endorsement, for a contraceptive, he exercised his vocal cords for a ready-to-eat food brand this time around.

Sources close to the brand tell us, “Shaad Ali has directed the ad, and Shankar-Ehasaan-Loy have composed the music. The lyrics have been written by Gulzar.”

Apparently, Ranveer is doing more than just the singing. The source adds, “He has not only sung the song and acted in the commercial, but also written the lyrics for the rap portion in the song. He also has a special look in the ad that he has been advised not to reveal.”

Ranveer took his first shot at singing when rapped for the title track of his second film, Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl (2011) along with singer Benny Dayal.

The source also reveals, “It was the success of the first ad for which he sang that gave him the confidence to keep singing. Even the brand was pretty sure that they wanted Ranveer to sing.”

We tried contacting Ranveer and his team, but despite repeated attempts, they remained unavailable for comment.
