Naam Shabana gets U/A certificate after three censor cuts
Naama Shabana is the story of a spy (Taapsee Pannu) and she became an undercover agent. The film highlights her intense martial arts training sessions and action stunts, apart from her emotional journey in the process.
Taapsee Pannu is gearing up for the release of Naam Shabana, but the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) is at it again: “Censoring” scenes from the film.
Taapsee Pannu plays a spy in Naam Shabana.
Naam Shabana is about an undercover agent (Taapsee Pannu), and has already created a buzz because of the intense martial arts training the Pink actor had to go through to fit into the role.
the CBFC has suggested three cuts in the film and offered U/A certificate.
“Hitting a woman is not permissible under any circumstance. Today, if we had to certify films about domestic violence like Deepa Mehta’s Heaven On Earth or Jagmohan Mundra’s Provoked, it would be impossible,” DNA quoted a source as saying.
“A shot showing a bottle of liquor had to go. And a Santa-Banta joke was asked to be deleted. Ridiculing any community, no matter how sporting the humour, it is not allowed,” the source added.
Neeraj Pandey’s Naam Shabana, directed by Shivam Nair, will release on March 31.
