Priyanka Chopra thanks Variety for being named in 500 most influential list
Priyanka Chopra has thanked Variety for including her in the annual list of the 500 most influential people in the entertainment industry. Read her message.
Priyanka Chopra on Thursday thanked Variety for including her in the magazine’s list of the 500 most influential people in the entertainment industry. Variety’s list was unveiled earlier this week.
Priyanka wrote in an Instagram message, “Big thanks to @variety for including me in your #Variety500 for the second year in a row! What makes this one extra special is the little name right above mine... @purplepebblepictures. Stories are at the heart of everything we do, regardless of genre or language, and it’s a wonderful feeling to know we’re on the right path. This would not be possible without my team, and most importantly, my incredible partner and co-founder, @madhumalati. Feels like miles to go, but truly grateful for every step we take.”
Other Indians in the list include writer-director Karan Johar, Star India CEO Uday Shankar, Essel Group Chairman Subhash Chandra, Aditya Chopra of Yash Raj Films, Balaji Telefilms’ Ekta Kapoor, Zee Entertainment CEO Punit Goenka and Siddharth Kapur of The Film and Television Producers Guild of India Ltd.
“Variety500 is an index of the 500 most influential business leaders shaping the global $2 trillion entertainment industry,” Variety said on its website. “Updated annually, the Variety500 reflects the accomplishments of its members over the previous 12 months. They were selected by the Variety editorial board, which conducted extensive research for its selections.”
On Priyanka, Variety’s citation mentioned her rapid rise in the world of entertainment, from being a beauty queen to one of the most bankable stars in India, to becoming an ambassador for Indian films in Hollywood and starring in films and a TV show. “Chopra is also active philanthropically and is a global UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador for Child Rights. She has her own foundation, the Priyanka Chopra Foundation for Health and Education, which helps needy kids,” the citation continued.
