Ranveer has rejected me twice. Shahid has said no, Arjun Kapoor has turned me down: Karan Johar on BFFs with Vogue
It was Karan Johar’s turn to be grilled into revealing inside information on Bollywood, but as expected, no pressure was required. The Koffee With Karan host was characteristically candid in on the first episode of the second season of BFFs with Vogue, hosted by Neha Dhupia.
He was joined by real-life BFF Shweta Bachchan-Nanda, who poked fun at him for mingling with star kids at parties. “They must’ve said something about EDM one time, and every time we’ve hung out after that, Karan’s like ‘guys let’s put on some EDM,’” she said, according to BuzzFeed.
To which Karan shot back, “She’ll discuss all of them, not just Navya (Shweta’s daughter), but also Aryan, Suhana, Ananya...”
“You think I hang out with them at parties, but at least I’m not stalking them.”
Karan was his usual honest self when the conversation turned to Bollywood. When Neha asked him if there was one thing he’d want to change about her, Karan had a reply ready. “I want you to stop wearing bed linen, and I want you to start wearing fabric that fits,” he said. “You’re not as large as you think you are in your head.”
But Shweta refused to divulge secrets. When Neha asked her about who she felt was the most overrated actor in the industry, she started humming. “Amitabh Bachchan ki beti hai, kaise bolegi (She’s Amitabh Bachchan’s daughter, she’ll never say anything),” Karan answered for her.
But as omnipresent as Karan makes himself out to be - he said he’d do anything for money, attend any ceremony and judge any reality show - he isn’t a stranger to rejection.
“I’ve tried to cast Shahid Kapoor a couple of times and he’s said no. Arjun Kapoor has said no to me. Ranveer Singh has said no to two movies,” Karan said.
BBFs with Vogue airs on Saturdays at 8 pm on Colors Infinity. Future guests include Alia Bhatt and her dad Mahesh Bhatt, Juhi Chawla and Jackie Shroff.
