This is a happy year for Kangna Ranaut who’s taking a break from teary roles to create dhamaal on screen.

"More than an intelligent film, I want to be a part of a successful film today," says the National Award-winning actor. But, she grouses, the world is full of unhappy people who love to concoct fights.

Apparently, when she turned up for the climax shoot of Tezz in London recently, the once-friendly Ajay Devgn kept his distance. Kangna rubbishes the rumours, "Ajay and I have done three films together, Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai (2010), Tezz and Rascals. We were never best friends but there’s been a certain comfort level between us from day one. He was not over-friendly then and less-friendly now. It’s a professional equation and if anyone expected anything more, I’m sorry, we can’t oblige."

KangnaBuzz is that Ajay had strongly recommended her for Singham but director Rohit Shetty preferred a new face and opted for Kajal Agarwal from down south. "That’s ridiculous and untrue. Even if Ajay had recommended me, which he did not, the director should be convinced I fit the role," she argues.

There’s talk that another ‘buddy’, Sanjay Dutt, has turned cold towards her because he doesn’t want to upset wife Manyaata. "That’s stupid, I’ve met Manyaata a couple of times, and I’m not too close to her or Sanjay. I was only cooing over their twins when she dropped by on the sets one afternoon because I love children," says Kangna.

What’s the score with Salman Khan, who insisted on having his ‘lucky mascot’ in Ready, upsetting heroine, Asin? "The Rascals team was in Bangkok when Ready was being shot. I didn’t even meet Asin, there’s no reason for her to be miffed because it was a special appearance," she reasons. "Sanjay and Ajay also made guest appearances and no one is talking about them. Next they’ll be saying I had a problem with Princess Diana. It’s bizarre!"

Maybe that’s because Salman is her mentor? "Salman’s a mentor to everyone but not me," Kangna shoots back. "I don’t need mentors. I’ve got where I have without one. If I didn’t look for a mentor earlier, why would I do so now when I’m a successful star?"
