Gone are the days when SRK would embrace back-to-back romantic movies. The actor now wants to explore different genres. That's the reason why he opted out of Vishal Bhardwaj's 2 States and requested the filmmaker to cast him in the adaptation of Shakespeare classic Prince Hamlet instead, reports Subhash K Jha.

The actor didn't want to repeat himself. After signing on Yash Chopra's romantic flick, the actor wanted something unique on his platter, says Jha.

“Shah Rukh loved what Vishal did with Ajay Devgn and Saif Ali Khan in Omkara. They plan to shoot the Bollywood adaptation of Hamlet in the remote areas of North India," a source told Jha.

This is the third Shakespearean adaptation by filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj. His films Maqbool and Omkara were based on Shakespeare's Macbeth and Othello respectively.

SRK has been replaced by Ranbir Kapoor in 2 States.
