Bollywood actors are often offered large sums of money to make appearances at weddings, store launches, and to perform at stage shows.

Most of them don’t mind taking up these proposals, but when Sonam Kapoor was recently offered a whopping Rs1.5 crore for a 10-minute appearance by a Dahi Handi mandal, she turned it down.

Apparently, the actor considers these celebrations unsafe. Traditionally, troupes of young men and women get together to form a human pyramid, to reach and break an earthen pot dangling at a height. But, every year, these activities also lead to several accidents.

A source close to the actor says, “Sonam is aware of the numerous accidents that occur during this festival annually. And though she was requested to make appearances at a few pandals across the city — she was even offered Rs 1.5 crore for a 10-minute appearance at one of them — she has turned all of them down.”

However, the actor was unavailable for a comment.
