Vikram Bhatt: An entertainer has to take brickbats and accolades together

Filmmaker Vikram Bhatt admits that his last few films haven’t fared well at the box office but that doesn’t deter him from working doubly harder.

Filmmaker Vikram Bhatt is a no nonsense man. Though his latest films haven’t done well, he is not perturbed and continues to work with same vigour. “When you are a boxer, you have no choice but to get up from the mat when you get hit. So when you are an entertainer, you have no choice but to get up. If you cannot take the brickbats with the accolades, then you are not meant for this business,” says Bhatt.

The filmmaker’s last four ventures that include Creature 3D (2014), Mr. X (2015), Love Games (2016) and Raaz Reboot (2016), didn’t do well at the box office. “But I’m making 1921 [a web series], and I can assure you it’s [going to be] a hit. It’s something I haven’t done before, and it comes from my core,” adds the filmmaker.

Meanwhile, for those wondering why Bhatt is hooked on to web series, he spills the beans. “I’m loving this format because it’s different. It allows you to do a lot of stuff that films don’t. It allows you a lot more room so I’m loving this form.”

Apart from Bhatt’s screenplays, his stories on Facebook are being much appreciated by his followers. “That’s what actually gave me the encouragement to go out and write an entire novel,” says Bhatt, who has penned his first book, A Handful of Sunshine.
