HT-Nielsen Top 10 list: Amish’s Sita, Durjoy Datta’s The Boy Who Loved rule fiction

Here’s your weekly digest of the best-selling fiction, non-fiction and children’s books.

Given that Amish’s Scion of Ikshvaku (2015), The Immortals of Meluha (2010) and The Secret of the Nagas (2011) are still on the best-selling fiction list, it is hardly surprising that his latest novel Sita – Warrior of Mithila has not budged from the number one spot since its release in May.

Durjoy Datta’s The Boy Who Loved is at number two, followed by Arundhati Roy’s The Ministry of Utmost Happiness that made it to the 2017 Man Booker Longlist announced earlier this week. Chetan Bhagat’s One Indian Girl has risen to number four from the sixth spot last week.

In the nonfiction category, nutritionist Rujuta Diwekar’s guide to what to expect when you’re expecting, Pregnancy Notes has taken the top spot, followed by Dr Joseph Murphy’s The Power of Your Subconscious Mind and Think and Grow Rich by Napolean Hill. Sadhguru’s Inner Engineering: A Yogi’s Guide to Joy stays put at number four, followed by Dale Carnegie’s How to Win Friends and Influence People.

Harry Potter continues to rule in the list of best-selling children’s books by international publishers, with Jeff Kinney’s Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Double Down making a comeback to the list and bagging the second spot. Ruskin Bond’s Great Stories for Children is a new entrant in the Indian publishing category.
