Cissy Houston, who published her own memoir 'How Sweet the Sound' in 1998, met with publishers in New York this week to negotiate the release of the tome, reported Contactmusic.

Houston, 78, is reportedly aiming to set the record straight about the superstar's troubled life and her death at the age of 48 in February.

"She (Houston) said, 'There are so many lies out there and I want to dispel all of those lies'," a source said.

Houston will use a ghostwriter for the book.

The news comes shortly after the late singer's friend BeBe Winans announced plans to detail his friendship with the star in his own book, titled 'The Whitney I Knew'. It is expected to be released in July.
