When you are caught in the middle of a conflict, take the Dalai Lama’s advice: think for yourself

Parenting your parent is an exercise in push and pull. You don’t want to constantly deal with their issues (okay, nagging) but you want them to be dealt with – by somebody else, spouse, sibling or son. You don’t want to do their chores, pay their bills, but you want them to feel cherished. You want their affection without the clinginess. You want the relationship without the guilt.
