Amitabh Chaudhry, currently Chief Operating Officer, will take over as Managing Director and CEO of Infosys's business process outsourcing (BPO) arm, Progeon, the Bangalore-based company announced on Wednesday.

Chaudhry, will take charge from March two, has been associated with Progeon since early 2003 and has been responsible for building industry-leading execution capabilities within Progeon, it said.

Chaudhry will take charge from Akshaya Bhargava, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Progeon Limited.

Bhargava has expressed a desire to leave Progeon for personal reasons and will demit office from March one, the NASDAQ-listed firm said.

"Bhargava has been associated with Progeon from its early days and has been one of the main factors for Progeon's current success", Infosys said.

Infosys' Chairman and Chief Mentor NR Narayana Murthy said Bhargava has led Progeon from a start-up to its "current eminent position".
