Indian women @workplace want flexibility
An overwhelming 94% of Indian women feel they have had a successful career, a survey of around 5,000 women across 13 countries conducted by networking firm LinkedIn has found.
The survey titled What Women Want @ Work further pointed out that 93% working women across the country believed that it is possible to achieve goals both in their career and personal lives.
The satisfaction rate among Indian working women is higher than the global average wherein only 74% believe that they can “have it all” both in their careers and personal lives.
Majority of workingwomen in India prefer greater flexibility at the workplace and define professional success as the right balance between work and personal life.
“A majority of women (63%) worldwide define professional success as having the right balance between work and personal life and nearly three quarters of women (74%) believe they can have it all,” the survey said.
Around 43% of the respondents said they would never leave their jobs to become stay-at-home moms.
However, on the downside, women still face significant career barriers in the workplace the survey revealed.
“For professional women in India, lack of investment in professional development (48%) is the No.1 challenge that affects their career, followed by the absence of a role model (43%).”
Moreover, Indian women with more than six years of experience feel more satisfied with their professional lives as compared to those with lesser experience, the study said.
