Two more hotels will come up in Whitefield-Bangalore and Gurgaon in NCR over the next two years, it said, while formally announcing the launch of the 147-room Swissotel Kolkata.
Swissôtel Gurgaon and Swissôtel Whitefield shall have 240 and 150 rooms respectively, the company said.
Swissôtel works on a business model through which the investment is made by a local partner, whereas Swissotel provides its brand, expertise and experience.
“It’s under a management agreement that we go for a partnership having same passion and vision, and that/s why we chose Kolkata to be our first destination by patnering with Ambuja Group,” regional vice president (Asia Pacific), Swissotel Hotels & Resorts, Aiden McAuley told HT, without disclosing the investment figure. He said their first hotel in Kolkata has both modern contemporary feeling and a traditional heritage look, and cater to local market demands.
Currently, Swissotel has 29 properties worldwide, with 11 in Asia, 15 in Europe and Mediterranean countries and 3 in America, consisting of 9680 rooms in total.
“Apart from India, we've three projects in pipeline, with each in Dresden (Germany), Makkah (Saudi Arabia) and Kyiv (Ukraine) to be completed in 2011-12,” said McAuley.
