"We are the only South Asian network to be rated by Nielsen in the US. This reinforces our research-oriented approach to high-quality programming," Zee TV's COO (International Business) Bharat Ranga said in a statement in Mumbai on Tuesday.

Nielsen's ratings would enable Zee TV to deliver exceptional programming to millions of South Asians, who tune into the network every day and also provide advertisers with deeper insight into audience behaviour and TV trends, Ranga added.

While Americans spend an average of five-hours throughout a day watching networks such as BBC America, CNBC, CNN, Home and Garden, people in New York tune into ZEE TV for 57-minutes on an average everyday during prime time (7-11 pm), he said.

This translates into the fact that 16.5 per cent of the people watch Zee in New York, where 3.8 per cent people are South Asians.

The measurement by Nielsen would be an invaluable tool for the network's diverse base of advertisers.
