Nissan Gravite MPV to launch on 17th Feb in India, prices and engine details expected soon
Nissan Motor India has confirmed the Gravite MPV for the domestic market, with its launch scheduled for 17th Feb.
Nissan Motor India earlier confirmed the name of its next product for the Indian market. Called Gravite, the MPV signals the start of the company’s refreshed approach for the country. This will be the first vehicle to arrive under the new strategy, with its official launch scheduled for 17th Feb. The company has stated that the Gravite has been conceived and developed in India, keeping local customer needs in focus, and its full reveal is expected shortly.
Nissan Gravite platform and seating layout
The Nissan Gravite will be based on the same architecture as the Renault Triber. Both MPVs will sit on the CMF-A platform, which has already proven its versatility in the Indian market. As a result, the Gravite is expected to mirror the Triber’s practical footprint while offering a three-row layout. Nissan has confirmed that the model will be positioned as a seven-seater MPV, aimed at buyers looking for a compact yet spacious family vehicle.

Nissan Gravite engine options
Although Nissan has not officially detailed the powertrain lineup yet, the Gravite is likely to borrow its engines from the Triber. This means it could be offered with a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 72 Ps of power and 96 Nm of torque. Transmission options are expected to include a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT.
There is also speculation around the introduction of a turbo-petrol option. Renault had earlier planned to offer the Triber with the 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine seen on the Renault Kiger, but that move never materialised. If Nissan decides to offer this motor on the Gravite, it could significantly improve performance. This turbocharged unit develops around 100 Ps and up to 160 Nm of torque, and is typically paired with either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a CVT automatic.
Pricing expectations
The Triber currently holds the title of being the most affordable MPV in India, with prices ranging from ₹5.76 lakh to ₹8.60 lakh ex-showroom. Nissan is expected to position the Gravite in a similar price band. There is also a chance that the company may introduce the MPV with a lower introductory price to attract early buyers.
