Volkswagen has released a new teaser on its social media, confirming the launch of the Tayron SUV in the Indian market. The teaser shows the SUV in a white veil, but the front and rear lighting signature confirms the vehicle as Tayron. The Volkswagen Tayron is essentially a more three-row version of the Tiguan, which makes it more practical. We have already seen numerous spy shots of the Tayron on our Indian roads, that too without wearing any camouflage.

Volkswagen Tayron will come with a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine.

Many design features of the Tayron resemble those of the Tiguan R-Line. Nevertheless, its length has been extended by 231 mm to enhance the interior space. At the front, it will come with a stylish pair of LED headlights, accompanied by a black grille cover and an air dam featuring a mesh design. The global variant is equipped with IQ.LIGHT HD Matrix headlights with Dynamic Light Assist, which incorporates 19,000 individually controlled LEDs in each headlight unit. As of now, we do not know whether this feature will make it to the Indian market or not. The standard main beam LED headlights are linked by a single LED strip, which includes an illuminated VW badge at the centre that emits a white light. We must await the official launch to discover the complete list of features for the vehicle.

The Tayron that was spotted on the roads was equipped with a set of 19-inch alloy wheels and the same rear bumper as its 5-seater counterpart. However, the rear lighting elements differ slightly. The rear badge illuminates in red to correspond with the taillights.

The Volkswagen Tayron will be powered by the same 2.0 turbo petrol engine that is also found in the new Skoda Kodiaq and Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line. This engine produces a maximum power output of 200 bhp and a peak torque of 320 Nm. The transmission is a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic.

Upon its launch, the Tayron will compete with the Skoda Kodiaq, Citroen C5 Aircross, Toyota Fortuner, MG Gloster, and Jeep Meridian.
