Chief minister Amarinder Singh on Thursday said Rajya Sabha MP Partap Singh Bajwa was “free to go with the Akalis” to Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Kartarpur, Pakistan, on November 9, a day after the Congress leader asserted that he would not be part of the jatha if led by Amarinder.

The CM said this while responding to a question on the sidelines of reviewing arrangements for the 550th Parkash Purb at Sultanpur Lodhi.

On Wednesday, Bajwa had said he will join the first official ‘jatha’ to Kartarpur only if former prime minister Manmohan Singh leads it.

“I will only be part of a jatha led by a god-fearing and truthful leader like former PM Manmohan Singh. If the CM leads, I will rather go to Kartarpur in my individual capacity as a humble Sikh,” Bajwa had said in New Delhi.

On Pakistan extending invitation to his former cabinet colleague Navjot Singh Sidhu to Kartarpur on the opening of the corridor, the CM said it’s better to ask the question from him (Sidhu) whether if he wants to go there or not.
