In a statement here, Badal especially hailed the Delhi results, saying this was the victory of the SAD-BJP alliance.

"The results are a historic mandate in favour of the pro-people policies of the Akali-BJP alliance and a rejection of the Congress for its rampant corrupt and maladministration," Badal said.

The results, especially the BJP's landslide victory in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, pointed to the impending rout of the Congress-led UPA, paving the way for the BJP-led NDA to form the next government at the Centre, he said.

"The spectacular victory of the SAD candidates in three of the four assembly segments has been a testimony to the unflinching trust and confidence, which the people, especially the Punjabis, have reposed in the policies and programmes of the party," he added.

Badal also congratulated SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal and thanked all the workers, office-bearers and leaders of the party for the win.
