Addressing the guests, Lelliott said this was the maiden event being held in Chandigarh, but the queen’s birthday was celebrated all across the world by UK embassies and commissionerates.

“In the United Kingdom, we do not have a national day. So, we celebrate her birthday as national day,” he said.

He further said her birthday falls on April 21, but due to variation in climatic conditions, it was celebrated in different months in different countries. The function was held at official residence of deputy high commissioner at Sector 21.
