Cleanliness drive launched at Dhungri, Old Manali villages

A massive clean-up drive was launched at Old Manali village and Dhungri village on Sunday. The drive was launched by members of Hidimba Mahila Mandal, Manu Mahila Mandal and Ma Durga Mahila Mandal of Old Manali panchayat.

According to president of the panchayat Hukam Ram, huge quantity of garbage, including plastic bottles, biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste was collected by the volunteers. The women folk evinced keen interest and ensured their active participation in making the Old Manali panchayat area litter-free.

President of Hidimba Mahila Mandal Kesri Devi said it was the second phase of the clean-up drive being jointly launched by the Mahila Mandal activists.

Addressing the members of Mahila Mandals, Ram said that it was the duty of villagers to maintain and preserve the sanctity of holy shrines and also it was their responsibility to conserve and preserve the environment and ecology of the historic Old Manali and Dhungri villages.
