Dr DS Narwal, president of HCDSA, told mediapersons that the government was not paying them on par with their MBBS counterparts. Issuing a warning after a peaceful candle march, HCDSA secretary Dr Ravish Sharma said that government should make its stand clear on the issue of 'same work, different pay scale'.

He said that at state's Pt Bhagwat Dayal Sharma Health University, both dental surgeons and general physicians had the same pay and perks.

Notably, dental doctors' association had conducted a similar protest in Chandigarh on August 2.
