Dalal, who was interacting with the field officials through videoconferencing, said all possible steps were being taken by the state police to provide full protection to women.

He said the state government had constituted district-level committees comprising district magistrate, superintendent of police and district attorney which would review the progress of trial in rape cases fortnightly.

Dalal said the police had also launched a drive to check drinking at unauthorised places.

Surprise raids were being conducted on dhabas and shops in rural and urban areas, he said, adding that action taken by the district police was reviewed by all senior police officials at police headquarters in Panchkula daily.
