Last month, the court of additional session judge in Amritsar, Neelam Arora, had rejected the anticipatory bail plea of Sarbdyal Singh in connection with the case of embezzlement of rural development funds. The case was registered in June, where Sarbdyal and others have been accused of siphoning off Rs 1.15 crore by opening bank accounts in the name of fake beneficiaries and pocketing the money.
