Man accused of raping minor girl held

The police on Thursday have arrested the man who allegedly abducted and raped a 14-year-old girl on April 4. The accused has been identified as Shezad who was on the run soon after the incident.

The police on Thursday have arrested the man who allegedly abducted and raped a 14-year-old girl on April 4. The accused has been identified as Shezad who was on the run soon after the incident.

He used to reside at a rented accommodation in Sohana village. The police said Shezad had been arrested from the border area of SAS Nagar.

The accused abducted the victim from her house and a day after the abduction, the girl was found at Sohana village. The victim said Shezad had taken her to an unidentified place and raped her.

After committing the crime, the accused left the victim at Sohana village from where her family members rescued her.

The victim's family members said she was not able to walk properly when she was rescued. A case was registered on April 4 under sections 376 (rape), 363 (kidnapping), 366A (kidnapping or maiming a minor for purposes of begging) of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act 2012.
