Following the September 7 night incident, in which a girl student reportedly went missing and girl hostellers at Maharishi Dayanand University (MDU) registered their protest owing to security failure, varsity authorities have completed their probe into the incident, and found the allegations unfounded.
It is pertinent to mention, that girl hostellers of Sabarmati raised a banner of revolt against varsity authorities alleging failure of security breach after a girl student went missing from September, 7 night.
Vice Chancellor RP Hooda had assured them of proper inquiry into the incident, but protesters remained adamant on the issue to take action against their hostel warden Raj Bala Sangwan, allegedly holding her responsible for missing the girl.
MDU, public relations, director Suneet Mukherjee said through a official press release "Provost Prof. Indira Dhull has found in her enquiry that the said girl student was at her local guardian's place at sector-2 here, after her co-hostellers passed unnecessary jibes and taunts on her for not supporting the girl protesters in their agitation against hostel warden".
Enquiry report said that the girl student deposed before the varsity committee along with her mother and brother, and demanded strict action against girl students who allegedly passed jibes and taunts against her.
Talking to Hindustan Times, vice chancellor RP Hooda said "The facilities and amenities available in MDU hostels are of highest standard, and mess is managed by the hostellers with mutual co-operation.
As far as security is concerned, we have beefed up the security outside in and around varsity and strict action would be taken against anyone found deteriorating academic atmosphere of varsity".
