In his condolence message, Badal described Sharma as "a distinguished officer, who always discharged his duties with utmost dedication, sincerity and professional commitment throughout his career."

Sharing his heartfelt sympathies with the bereaved family, the chief minister prayed to the almighty to grant peace to the departed soul and give strength to the family members, friends and relatives to bear this huge loss in this hour of grief.
