In a condolence message, Badal Senior said that Venkataraman was a great statesman, scholar, trade unionist, nationalist and a great human being.

Venkataraman's demise is a great lost to the nation, the Chief Minister said and paid glowing tributes to the former Presidents commitment to politics of integrity and honest.

The Deputy Chief Minister also conveyed his heartfelt condolences and sympathies to the member of the bereaved family.
