On Sunday, a spokesperson of the aggrieved chowkidars said they had also sent various fax messages to the chief minister for the release of their dues.
It is worth mentioning that revenue chowkidars are the key persons in villages and perform multifarious duties of the department. They act as assistants of patwaris and also communicate with the local people with regards to their revenue works on behalf of the revenue department.
The spokesman said that if their dues were not paid in the coming week, they would be compelled to stop their duties and resort to agitation and the state government would be responsible for it.
Hamipur tehsildar Rajiv Kumar said the issue of payment of dues had been referred to the district authorities for final action. He admitted that these people had not been paid their dues for the last six months.
