Referring to a representation given by the civil surgeons and deputy directors in the department of health, principal secretary Vini Mahajan wrote on Friday to the chief secretary that these journalists had also misbehaved with the civil surgeon, which was a serious matter warranting a serious action. In the ongoing feud, different associations of health workers on Saturday called for boycotting the Pulse Polio national immunisation round on Sunday.

Earlier Barnala civil surgeon Inderjeet Khanna had alleged that local journalists had come with a group to meeting him, and when he asked to wait, had barged into his office, raised slogans against him, gheraoed his official vehicle, and forced the district transport officer to issue him a challan. Supported by other organisations, the accused journalists also staged a protest against alleged corruption in the health department.
