Sangrur SDO suspended over financial irregularities

Punjab rural development and panchayat minister Sikander Singh Maluka on Friday ordered the suspension of subdivisional officer (SDO) Ranjit Singh, posted at Sangrur, who also holds the charge of executive engineer, for alleged financial irregularities in the utilisation of grants.

Taking a serious note of complaints received against Ranjit Singh, Maluka has also ordered an inquiry against the SDO, by 2 member inquiry committee comprising senior executive engineers. Ranjit's headquarters during the suspension period would be Chandigarh.

The minister reiterated zero tolerance for corrupt practices in the department, while asking all officials to use grants in an honest and transparent manner.
