Showcause notice to Rupnagar MC chief

The local government department, Punjab, has issued a showcause notice to Rupnagar Municipal Council president Amarjeet Singh Satyal, belonging to the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), as to why he should not be removed from the post for misusing his powers.

The notice has been issued by the principal secretary, local government.

In the notice, it is stated that Satyal has not made changes, as suggested by the Rupnagar Improvement Trust, in his residence built at local Giani Jail Singh Nagar.

Satyal has been asked to explain his position within 21 days.

The trust had recently resumed a plot which was allotted to Satyal for the construction of a dispensary/nursing home but on which he had constructed his house.

Meanwhile, Satyal termed the notice illegal and said he would file a reply to it. He said the allegations made in the notice had nothing to do with misuse of powers as MC president.
