With one of the most awaited matches of the cricket World Cup 2015 — the nail-biting duel between India and Pakistan being fought today, the eateries and sports bars across the city have put their best food forward to give their customers an experience they’ll, perhaps, never want to forget.
Apart from making provisions for three plasma screens and projectors, decorating the place with the flags of all participant nations and displaying the WC schedule for the easy reference of all people, Peddlers, which is located in Sector 35 and Elante Mall, will give 20% discount on food to all customers every time India wins a match.
“We have installed speakers and tried to create an environment that would make people feel as if they are watching the match in the stadium,” said Peddlers’ general manager IP Singh.
The café-bar has come up with several exciting offers including Rs 250 worth vodka-based Kamikaze shot for Rs 49, on every six that team India hits and unlimited kebab and biryani for half its usual price.
Peddlers promises a great time especially to beer lovers for it has some of the most exciting discounts on its Kingfisher draught pitcher, mug and light beer bucket.
Sanjeev Kumar, manager of Jullundur Hotel & Restaurant, Sector 22-B, said, “We have the biggest screen in the city since the last 10 years and are known for our food. Ours is an old hotel. We therefore do not need any advertising or special discounts to attract people.”
He is not expecting much crowd this time since most of the matches will be telecast early in the day. “Most matches would finish by the time our bar opens. Had they been scheduled late in the evening, we could have thought of doing something special,” said Kumar.
He fondly recalled that the hotel had great crowd during the last World Cup. “The place was full. People were standing and watching the matches,” he added.
Underdoggs Sports Bar & Grill, Elante Mall, has come up with an exciting offer for all cricket and food lovers — WC 3 Minute Special — which includes seven special schemes, in which customers can avail offers within three minutes of a particular development in the match. For instance, you could get a Bacardi Black with coke if someone gets run out, a long shot for an LBW, and a tequila shot if there is a tie, all at `99 if you ask for it within three minutes of it having happened in a match.
“There is also a predict-to-win voucher, which can win our customers a gift voucher worth Rs 2,000, if they predict right and get chosen in a lucky draw,” said Sundar Rawat, manager at Underdoggs.
10 Downing Street, Industrial Area, Phase 2, shall soon begin with the WC decoration.
Manager Raj Bhattacharya said, “The place was decorated for Valentine’s Day until today. We are planning to give some of the best deals to our customers and create an enthusiastic environment here to encourage team India this WC.”
