Undertrial jumps from court building, injured

An undertrial accused of cheating was injured after he jumped off the first floor of district courts while trying to escape from police custody on Wednesday evening.

An undertrial accused of cheating was injured after he jumped off the first floor of district courts while trying to escape from police custody on Wednesday evening.

Police said Karan Singh, an Amritsar resident, who was booked under section 420 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Sector-36 police station, was taken to district courts in Sector 43 for a hearing. There, he gave the cops a slip and jumped from the first floor of the court. He was caught and taken to Government Multi-Specialty Hospital, Sector 16, where doctors found multiple injuries in his backbone.
