80 ‘activists’ smash shutters, railings at daycare centre
The activists removed the hoardings of the centre. They also broke the railings and shutters of the premises
Around 80 activists, including several women, from various political parties attacked playschool and nursery at Sector 10 on Friday morning. They took down hoardings and broke railings and shutters. The centre had been locked since Friday morning.

Gurunath Gaikar, president of the Peasants and Workers party (Kharghar unit), said, “No one knows since when innocent babies were being tortured over there. Just because the babies cannot speak the centre’s activities were not known to anyone. It’s a heinous crime to hit babies like this. That’s why we attacked the center. The police should also pay attention to this.”
“There are many other daycare centres in Kharghar. We will visit all of them and check if they have proper documents. We will also keep tabs on them henceforth so that they can’t torture the babies like this,” he added.
Santosh Tamboli, another member, said, “We also went to meet the owner of the centre at her residence on Friday. But her flat was locked.”
Hindustan Times asked Madhukar Pandey, joint commissioner of police, Navi Mumbai, if the police will take action against these activists. Pandey however, said he was not aware of any such attack.
A source at Kharghar police station said that no one has approached them with a complaint about an attack so far.
HT tried to contact the owner of the centre but both her mobile phones had been switched off.
