Bengaluru traffic police collected the fines of over Rs.13.8 crore in 2 days, after introducing the 50% discount on pending traffic challans. As the discount is valid till February 11, many violators are expected to clear their dues.

According to Bengaluru traffic police, a total of 4,77,298 cases were cleared as of Saturday which gave the department Rs.13,81,13,621 in two days. On Friday, around Rs.5.6 crore was collected and on Saturday, over Rs. 8 crore was collected from violators.
The state transport department as a one-time measure offered a 50% discount to violators on Thursday, after it held a meeting chaired by the Karnataka State Legal Services Authority (KSLSA) in January. Bengaluru traffic commissioner Saleem said there were over two crore e-challan cases which may total up to a penalty of ₹500 crore in the city, which is over 80% of such cases pending across the state.
